What does being authentic really mean?

Can you take risks while remaining true to who you are?

Are the two mutually exclusive?

Being authentic means living your life in a way that consistently shows others who you are and what your core values and beliefs are. Its about showing your identity, your personality, your perspective, and who you truly are. But being authentic doesn’t mean you can’t take risks. In fact, being truly authentic by itself can be a risk. In today’s world, how do we balance being authentic with managing expectations of others and still growing as people? Why is it so important that we continue to be authentic even in the face of adversity? How can we embrace who we are and who our coworkers and employees are and make it work best for our organizations.

Join BV-ATD and Jennifer Hebert to explore why it is important to remain true to who we are at all times and especially when taking risks in our personal lives and our careers.

About our Speaker:

Jennifer Hebert is no stranger to taking both personal and professional risks. As an attorney for 18 years, she has broad experience in multiple locales and in very different practice areas. She is currently an Assistant District Attorney and Chief of the Civil Division of the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to becoming an ADA 9 years ago, Jennifer left her life as a commercial litigator in Harris County behind and moved back to Brazos County to start a new legal career as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of College Station. She and her husband made a decision to start down a new path in order to raise their future children in a family-friendly community they both love. They now have a seven-year-old spitfire daughter who keeps them both busy and on their toes at all times. Jennifer enjoys baking and reading anything she can to relieve stress.
