About our Speaker: Patti Urbina, M.A

Patti Urbina’s consulting work focuses on career advancement, personal branding and women in leadership. She began her career as a Trainer in HR at Texas A&M and retired from the university in 2015. Leading teams at Texas A&M University for more than 15 years, Urbina’s work often had corporate, international and academic exchanges. She directed the liaison office for Texas A&M’s branch campus in Doha, Qatar, for four years; in the Mays Business School she served as the director of the Full-Time MBA program, advisor to the Aggie Women MBAs and a four-year stint in the Mays Business School career management office for graduate students.

Urbina holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history with a focus on Management. She completed her Ph.D. coursework in Education & Human Resource Development. She is fluent in Spanish.

Supporting a voice for professional staff, Urbina served on the university-wide committee that chartered the University Staff Council and was elected its first Communications Chair. She also served a term on the executive committee of the Women’s Administrative Network promoting personal and professional development for staff. She is an alumni of the Center for Leadership in Higher Education’s rotational leadership development program, assigned to then Chancellor Barry Thompson.

A lifelong resident of Texas, Urbina enjoys watching fútbol with her husband, Eduardo, playing pickleball, and is always happiest planning her next trip- either abroad or to visit one of her three children (or bonus family) in the California, Seattle, Tucson and Dallas areas
