Dean Flanagan will be providing an update of the Blinn College District Technical and Community Education Division, formerly known as the Workforce Division. The presentation will focus on the division’s expansion and partnerships at the Texas A&M System’s RELLIS campus.
About Our Speaker: As the Dean of Technical and Community Education for the Blinn College District, Karla Flanagan provides divisional leadership in the areas of Corporate College, Adult Education and Literacy (AEL), Small Business Development Center (SBDC), continuing education, technical education, Associate of Applied Science programs, apprenticeships, and leisure learning. Some of her accomplishments at Blinn since 2019, include obtaining over $3 million in grant funding for corporate and community training, implementing ten new Associate of Applied Science degrees in the areas of Trades and Applied Technology, transitioning workforce program registration into an online modality, and aligning Adult Education and Literacy training programs and National Center for Construction Education and Research industry-recognized credentials to college credit. Prior to working at Blinn College, Karla served the Brazos Valley as the Housing Choice Voucher Program Manager at the Brazos Valley Council of Governments and Senior Administrator of Community Services at the Brazos Valley Community Action Agency. Karla has been in workforce development for over a decade, leading workforce programs in the states of Hawaii and Texas. She obtained both a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Development and a Master of Business Administration while in Hawaii.
